2010 AGE CUTOFF DATE CHANGES
In April of 2006, Pony Baseball announced that we would play under the April 30th age cutoff date for the 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons. Then, beginning with the 2010 season Pony Baseball will move to a January 1st age cutoff date. In 2005 when all youth baseball organizations made the change to April 30th, Pony was the last to announce their intentions. The national board that governs all youth baseball organizations which studied this idea and led all of us to make this decision, felt going to January 1st was too big of a leap in a single year. Therefore, they broke it down into two changes. The first we have made, going from August 1st to our now current April 30th. In 2010 we will go to the January 1st date, which is the International Olympic date, and the one they sought all along. Pony Baseball was the last to announce the change to the April 30th date and they regret that. Pony Baseball has chosen to lead the way this time by being the first to come out and announce their intentions by declaring our move to the January 1st age cutoff date starting in 2010. All other youth baseball organizations will soon follow our lead we believe and that is good. It is time Pony takes the lead!
