SAVE FRESHMAN SPORTS!

Below is a message from Eric Volta regarding Freshman sports at the area high schools. The board has voted to cut all freshman sports at Freedom, Heritage and Liberty. If $48,000 can be raised by 8/1 to cover the costs of these sports then we can save them for the 2010-2011 school year. Hopefully a long term solution can be found but in the short run we are reaching out to our current and former BPBL members in an effort to help reach the goal set out by the district. If you, your business, your friends, or you family can donate to help reach the goal it would be greatly appreciated. Please see the email below on how you can help.

BPBL Board

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even though the Board did take action to cut the freshmen coaching stipends, to meet our $4 million budget deficit for next year, we are still trying to fund raise to keep these positions alive. The Liberty Education Foundation is accepting donations on behalf of the Save Freshmen Sports Campaign. To donate, all one needs to do is go to the Ed. Foundation's website at Educationwins.org. The Liberty District, in order to insure gender equity and fairness for all school programs, is trying to raise the $48,000 needed to save the Freshmen programs prior to August 1. Our Athletic directors at each site are working hard with coaches and parents to fund-raise to save the sports. In fact, in just three days this week we raised over $1,000. It is our hope that we provide the same programs that nearly 800 freshmen took advantage of this past year. Again to donate to the Campaign log on to Educationwins.org and click on the "donate" button under "Save Freshmen Sports". On the next page under purpose write in Save Freshmen sports when donating. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Eric Volta
